News is all about current events. There was a time when the happening around the world was known only through newspapers. Then, came telegraph which made global communication easier. Later, with the invention of the radio and TV, the news media got revolutionized. From the printed news to news narrated via radio or TV, the access to information became easier to the common public and with news readers, it got more humanly touch. News anchors are the reason we watch some news channels all the time. As they are expected to the unbiased people with facts and figures, the journalism is seen as a means to raise the issues and, cover the event that is out of sight of the general public and, government. Being a journalist is a responsibility as they are supposed to be truly being on the side of the truth and stats. 1. Anjana Om Kashyap
Hailing from Jhansi, Anjana is an executive editor of Aaj Tak. She started her career in the field of journalism from Doordarshan and then moved to Zee News and in 2007, joined Aaj Tak( Then News24). From Aaj Tak, her news anchoring occupation gets started. Her excellence is worthy of praise. She is criticised for her biased anchoring and, is accused of reporting in favour of the right ideology. She was also highly trolled and faced lots of criticism for her behaviour at the neonatal ICU at a hospital in Bihar during encephalitis outbreak.

2. Richa Anirudh
One of the sweetest hosts is Richa Anirudh who hosts a talk show called Zindgi Live on IBN7. Her way of getting emotionally connected with the people coming as a guest on the show and listening to their story is something that makes her unique. She started her journalism career with Zee News and, later joined IBN7(then channel 7). Now, she has her youtube channel named Zindagi with Richa. Her twitter bio says Trying to be a Human and with her hosting skill she is proving that Humanity is all above.

3. Shweta Singh
Born and brought up in Patna, Bihar, Shweta is a well-known anchor. She is presently a senior executive editor at Aaj Tak. She is actively working in the field of journalism from the first year of her graduation. Before becoming the part of Aaj Tak, She had been part of Zee News and Sahara also. It is a bit amazing thing and also reveals her humble nature that even after completing more than 20 years in journalism, she still considers herself misfit for this profession.

4. Nidhi Razdan
Host of NDTV news show Left Right & Centre, graduated from Lady Shree Ram College, Delhi, Nidhi joined NDTV in the year 1999. She is now executive editor at NDTV. Be it political or social stories, she has covered a wide range of topics. However, Nidhi’s journalism is quite inclined to left and she can be seen fiercely criticising BJP government. Her reporting credibility was questioned when She interviewed PM of Norway Erna Solberg and claimed that Norway would mediate between India and Pakistan on J&K issue, which was straightaway refused by Norwegian Ambassador, Nils Ragnar Kamsvag. Needless to say that her way was quite irresponsible and misleading.

5. Mini Menon
Born in Jammu, She graduated from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi and then did master’s in Communication Research from the University of Pune. She started her journalism career with CNBC TV18 and then worked as News Editor for Times Now. In 2007, she joined Bloomberg TV India as Executive editor. At present She is active as Co-founder and an Editor of Live History India. Live History India aims to collect the stories from the history and various historical incidences to make it easier for history lovers get the facts and facets of Incredible India. 7. Barkha Dutt
Padma Shree awardee and one of the most known female anchor in India, Barkha Dutt is an owner of Mojo, a news channel she founded in 2017. She was a well-known face of NDTV for 21 years. Having done her Masters in Journalism from Columbia University. She is doubtlessly one of the courageous journalist leaning on the left side of the spectrum. However, her too much courageous journalism “caused concern” during Kargil war and 2008 Mumbai terror attack, where she was covering the Hotel Taj live. Her irresponsible way of conducting her work brought BD lots of criticism. Hope BD become more sensible while covering such sensitive incidences.

8. Shereen Bhan
Graduate in Philosophy from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi, Shereen has her master’s degree in Communication studies from the University of Pune. She is currently active as Managing Editor of CNBC-TV18 and hosts many programs like Young Turks, India Business Hour. With over 15 years of experience in Journalism, mainly business and policy-focused, Shereen won FICCI Woman of the Year in 2005, Best Business Anchor Award in 2013.

Hailing from Mumbai, Menaka is economics graduate from St. Xavier’s College. She started her journalism career as Feature reporter on India Business Report on TV18 in 1996.
